Doctor Found Guilty of Elder Abuse
Summary
An issue of elder abuse has been mentioned in Northern California, in the year of 2001. William Bergman, a terminal cancer patient, died in 1998, after spending six days at Eden Medical Center. His children thought that if the doctor had prescibed enough pain medication, their father could have suffered less pain. However, the doctor objected the accused. He said that he had complied with the procedure of care. Undermeditation is a widespread problem, which has caught public's attention.
I chose this article because this kind of problem keeps happening in our daily lives. When someone suffers from great pain, his /her family will no doubt try to find the best medication and care to help him/her recover. Under such kind of circumstances, people often feel helpless, and hoped that the doctor can cure or release the patient's pain. In my opinion, the doctors should provide their patients good care with love and do not ask for returns. On the other hand, the family of the patients should also trust the doctors. By having trust between one another, I think that argument may minimized.
